A short inlet that runs southward from the Cuneo plain until it meets Bric Mindino (1,879m above sea level) and the adjacent Tanaro valley. The orographic corridor that the Mongia stream has carved out for itself over the millennia astonishes with the naturalistic variety it preserves, from the incredible natural bridge in the Masentine locality, among the few similar cases in all of Europe, to the breath of the chestnut groves that in the area reach the height of their vitality. It is no coincidence that it was in Viola that the Slow Food Community of the Guardians of the Chestnut Groves of the Ligurian Alps was born, who have made modern chestnut cultivation the driving force behind Alpine "restanza."

But the small valley also manages to please lovers of art and culture, thanks, for example, to the Castle of Mombasiglio, which fascinates and engages with its thousand years of history. Pedaling in the valle Mongia means moving over hills and mountains of modest height, yet rich in heterogeneous and unexpected views and panoramas.
