The route winds through the so-called Negrone Creek Valley, the first tributary of the Tanaro River, which officially begins as the Tanarello on Mount Saccarello.
The route, also usable through a shorter and easier variant, touches the localities of Pornassino and Pian del Fò, moving as it often does locally on the border between Piedmont and Liguria.
The stretch leading to Pian dell'Arma is particularly charming, offering a picturesque view of Viozene , and the Dolomite-like southern slope of Monte Mongioie.
